Jigsaw AW16

Jigsaw AW16Don’t get me wrong I love summer! White jeans, sandals and a good pair of sunglasses to break me out of the style rut that is winter (goodbye black skinnies), yet after viewing the Jigsaw Autumn/Winter 16 collection all I want to do is throw on a nice big overcoat and enshroud myself in a buttery soft oatmeal knit! The viewing was held at their store on Duke street, showcasing their fall collection – What I love about Jigsaw and pieces I’ve worn in the past is firstly the timeless quality they have, even if the print or colour is unusual they’re always those pieces in my wardrobe that I reach for time and time again (even a candy pink double breasted blazer, my go-to for fun holiday dressing). I also love the fabrics they use in their collections, which compared to the price point for Jigsaw garments are pretty much amazing.

In terms of outerwear my favourite pieces were the houndstooth overcoat, which is one of their staples for winter, and the pale camel pea-coat which is a great shorter alternative to the floor length camel coats we saw last year. Accessories were pared back and minimal but with the luxe edge that Jigsaw does so well – my eyes were fixed on the trainers and backpacks.

My other favourites were the jumpers. Knitwear is a big thing for me and I invest in a few good pieces every year and wear them until they’re basically threadbare – the ribbed knits from this years collection in taupe and grey will be a great addition to my trans-seasonal wardrobe.
The women’s collection was a beautiful mix of print and bold jewel tones. Prints were inspired by female artists and photographers, created in-house just for the collection. The prints were then transferred onto beautifully cut silk dresses that are perfect for the party season (just add one of their covetable pouches). Outwear was bold in terms of colour and dramatically minimal with clean lines inspired by the likes of Celine and Victoria Beckham. One of my favourite women’s pieces was a black, crushed silk tuxedo jacket and matching cigarette pants, tailored to perfection and a chic alternative to the party dress.
Accessories saw the reinvention of some of their staple pieces such as their backpacks in both vibrant and softer pink colour ways and bright clutches and pom poms to add an injection of strong colour to your look.
